Therapy provided at UPHS - Marquette Inpatient Rehabilitation is under the direction of a physician trained in rehabilitation medicine and specialized nursing staff. Care plans are structured, focused, and time-sensitive to reflect the pathophysiology of recovery, avoid patient deconditioning, and maximize potential functional gain.

When patients are rehabilitated in an Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit (IRU) compared to a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), they have a lower risk of dying, fewer hospital readmissions, fewer emergency room (ER) visits, and more days at home than rehabilitation in an SNF for the same condition.
